What's In a Name?

A lot of people ask me how I came up with the name "Tartan & Tea", and I love when they do because it's one of my favourite things to talk about. Tartan & Tea is specifically an homage to my beautiful family. They are my steadfast, loyal and loving supporters. While the Tartan does reference my Scottish heritage, it also speaks to the notion of family, a willingness to fight for your clan and what you believe in, to be brave and to live with honour.

Tea, for me, is something that will always incite the notion of comfort, warmth, and happiness. Tea makes me think of my grandmother, who is and always will be one of my biggest inspirations. It makes me think of all of the women in my family who gather over tea to talk about life and build each other up. These women make me a better a person, they make the world a better place.

The words "Tartan & Tea" mean everything to me, and in turn represent exactly who I am and what I want my business to invoke in both the personal and corporate realms of photography. Loyalty, passion, family, bravery, honour, gathering, togetherness, authenticity, happiness and love. It's pride in who I am and where I come from, pride in my work, and pride in the imagery that we produce together.
